‘Sancharam’ Crosses 450 plus Episodes

‘Sancharam’, directed and videoed by Santhosh George Kulangara, has crossed 450 plus episodes in Asianet News Channel. This is a rare happening in the history of world visual media itself, as it is a programme created by a lone globetrotting media person. 69 countries spread across 6 continents and Antarctica have been telecast in the `Sancharam’ episodes. The world travel, meant for the shooting of this programme- a programme which has found a place in the prestigious LIMCA Book of Records - still continues.

It was in September 2001 that Asianet started the telecast of ‘Sancharam’. But Santhosh George had started his travels for the preparation of the programme 4 years prior to this. At first, the travels were to our neighbouring countries, Nepal and Maldives. Later he moved on to the European Countries.

For the past twelve years Santhosh George has travelled through most of the important countries around the world all alone, armed just with a camera. Many travelogue programmes are being telecast in Indian and foreign channels, but they have been prepared by a team. But a programme, created by a single person who travels all alone through various countries, is very rare. This actually makes `Sancharam’ unique.

The Malayali viewers have already seen the splendid sights such as the wonders of the world, historical places, major oceans, rivers of historical importance, world famous forests and so on through `Sancharam’. With the episodes of Antarctica, which were shot during his week-long stay there, ‘Sancharam’ has covered the 7th continent.

Santhosh George Kulangara, who is the first Indian space tourist designate, has already completed his pre-training requisites. The test flights of the spaceship is nearing completion in America. In the meantime, Santhosh George continues his world travels for `Sancharam’ shooting. ‘Sancharam’ doesn’t come to an end even after the 400 episodes, Santhosh George has been making relentless journies with his camera in search of unseen worlds. The script of this programme is done by A.U. Ratheeshkumar. Voice is given by Anish Punnan Peter.

‘Sancharam’ is being telecast in Asianet News Channel on every Sunday at 10.30 am and on Tuesday at 11 pm.
